    Going Sluicing Today!

I am going down to Cajon Creek again today. I am going to be using my La Trap sluice, grizzly gold pan and my 2 inch super gold sucker.

We had enough rain from the storms that it finally moved some material around in the creek. So I will have to do a little sampling first.

Sampling is a very important step before you start processing a lot of material! You cannot find much gold if the material you are processing doesn't have any gold to begin with! So before you set up your sluice or whatever you are using, do a little sampling!

I will post the results of my sluicing later today.

Well, I got to run a little material through my sluice box today. Had problems getting it set up just right. That is the only hting I do not like about the la trap sluice.

While I was fooling around with my sluice, 2 guys came up and asked how I was doing. And I told them I had just started. It turned out they were brand new prospectors. And they had only seen panning on videos and on the internet. So I showed them how to pan. They had been pannning a little up in Cleghorn Canyon. I asked if  they found any gold, and they said: "We found some gold colored flakes, but don't know if its gold". So I told them I would show them some gold and we could compare it to what they found.

I used my super sucker to get some material from under some big boulders. I just used a 1/2 inch classifier over my proline gold pan. And then ran 2 full proline pans through my grizzly gold pan. Then panned out the concentrates and one nice flake showed up. then I showed it to them and said: "See how it stays put in the pan. And the color." Then they took their vialouot and they had some mica flakes in it. I dumped the vial into my gold pan next to the gold flake and had them look at the difference between the mica and the gold. And let them keep the flake so they had some gold.

I also invited them to come to the Hi Desert Gold Diggers meeting next month, and to the meeting of the AU Mojave Prospectors, our local GPAA cahpter meeting, this coming Thursday.(3rd Thrusday of the Month, Domingo's Restaraunt, at 7:00 PM)
